Thank You
Hard to believe, but it's already been a full year since we launched our redesign issue. Among the noticeable differences, we've included dramatic lead spread shots, showcased real-world car features from true CHEVY HIGH PERFORMANCE fans, and, most importantly, continued to focus on what we do best: staying away from the fluff and providing hard-core tech.
And because this month commemorates the first anniversary of the changes we initiated, I wanted to take a few moments to reflect over the past twelve issues. Of course, I'll be the first to admit that it took a valiant effort by the entire editorial, art, and production staff to get that July '06 issue out the door on time; however, like most things, the first proved to be the most difficult, and we've been able to convert all of our stories to meet our new style with little trouble. Now, it should be noted that this is an ongoing process and we're constantly making tweaks, which helps to ensure we're producing the highest-quality editorial, all the while maintaining our fresh makeover.
Right from the onset, you'll find that the stories are very straightforward. You get the point without having to battle your eyes through mundane, snarky, or irrelevant information. A step further, our Quick Notes give you a brief synopsis at the beginning of each story. Additional changes brought about the creation of two new departments: Insider and Step by Step. While our Q&A section with Kevin McClelland has always been one of the more popular departments, Insider, already, has to be a close second. Our goal was to take you into the minds of the people behind various manufacturers for one-on-one sessions and to pull knowledge that you may otherwise not have access to. So far it has been a winning combination and, better yet, fun.
I'm proud to say that the past year has elicited an incredible response, both in the number of e-mails we receive and the increase in newsstand sales. I was under the impression that any change would take some time to really notice but, I have to say, it has been a remarkable first anniversary, with valuable feedback, and we have to thank you, the reader, for letting us know what you want. That said, this month we've included a reader poll on page 65. If you want to take part in the direction we move forward in, then take a minute or two to read it over, then fax (or mail) your response to us. It'll help keep us in check and make sure we don't stray off the path of what you're interested in. If the room we provided for additional thoughts isn't enough, then you know what to do: Crank up the computer and send your feedback to me directly by e-mail. I'll leave you with this: a big thank you from all of us at CHEVY HIGH PERFORMANCE! See you next month.
