New Moon Rising
As a kid I remember reading a wide variety of magazines, and more often than not, it seemed as if staffers were coming and going through a revolving door every couple of years. Of course, most of my friends at that time never noticed and couldn't tell you the difference between one writer and another. Strangely enough, that was different for me; I really can't explain why, but I always had a habit of keeping up with bylines and taking notice of who was writing what.
Seriously, call it odd, call it geeky, but I always wanted to know where the former staffers moved on to. Unfortunately, it wasn't uncommon to read editorials that didn't acknowledge the internal changes whatsoever. Funny thing is, I remember thinking to myself that if I was ever given the opportunity to be an editor, I would make it a point to at least mention what was going on. Fast-forward to today and I'm actually in the captain's chair of what I consider to be the best Bow Tie book on the market, and beyond that, I'm actually in a position to make good on what crossed my mind so many years ago.
This month you'll find that Bob Mehlhoff is no longer listed on our masthead. After a seven-year tour of duty with us, Bob has exchanged his desktop computer and camera for a laptop and a spot over on the sales team. It's been a good ride, and all of us wish him the best of luck with his new position.
Now, if ya haven't already noticed, we've also added a new member to our family: Sean Haggai, also known as the FNG. Sean comes to us from Quarter Mile Performance in Chatsworth, California, where he wrenched on custom-built powerplants and handled various CNC machines. That said, he's young, very energetic, motivated, and certainly isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Adding to his credentials, he's crewed on an NHRA Division 7 Monte Carlo that runs well into the 7s on motor and even has experience open tracking; call me crazy, but it only seemed fitting to bring him onboard.
I'll be the first one to admit that it'll take him a little bit to get acclimated to his new environment; however, I expect him to be up and running shortly and becoming an integral part of our team. Just do me a favor and e-mail the FNG the types of edit you'd like to see him produce. The address is listed below, and you can always mingle with us on our message board at: chevyhiperformance.com
