'64 Nova SS
Proving you can go home again, Todd McGuire turned up this pristine '64 Nova SS that's a dead ringer for the '62 Nova he sold when his first child arrived. Although the car's 194ci six-banger is still a smooth runner, Todd has an 11.5:1 solid-roller 406 small-block built and ready to go. Plans call for a muscular Turbo 350 to match the hot engine, which he figures should be good for "an easy 550-600 hp." In keeping with his "scary fast sleeper" blueprint, his recreated Deuce won't have a cowl-induction hood, stickers, a rollbar, a racing shifter, or a big tach. On the other hand, he figures a slightly less-subtle exhaust note and a set of wheels will grab the younger crowd's attention. And if they don't look, Todd, we say just leave 'em in the dust.
