'69 Corvette
Bill & Ilene Tucker
Kissimmee, FL
Bill and Ilene Tucker love to drive their Monaco Orange '69 Corvette. So much so that after a recent 2,300-mile, one-week jaunt on the Hot Rod Power Tour from Kissimmee, Florida, to Buena Vista, Virginia, they headed back south all the way to the bottom of Florida and decided to go island-hopping. The trip from Key Largo to Key West and back racks up about 200 miles over long bridges and short islands. The whole time the Vette's Edelbrock-equipped 350 small-block effortlessly churned the 700-R4 overdrive automatic and 3.36:1 posi unit with no problem. This is their first Vette, and over the past eight years they've accumulated lots of fun miles in the rag top.

Loaded Full of Fun
'91 S-10
Gary Falls
Franklin, TN
Gary Falls owns this tire-frying LT1 S-10 truck. Gary's building goals were to make this LT1 conversion look as though the factory built it, complete the project in about a year, and make it a tire-frying ride. Looks like he met his goals. The engine is a transplant from a '95 Z28, and the trans is a 4L60E automatic that spins a stock 3.73:1 posi rearend. Those cool wheels are IROC 16-inch rims wrapped with Fusion ZR1 255/R5517 rubber. The exhaust is a Magnaflow system with dual outlets and Z28 tips. Gary has won a few local car shows with his truck.

'69 Malibu
Brad Hayes
Leduc, AB, Canada
Brad Hayes just recently finished a thorough frame-up restoration of this '69 A-body, with lots of quarter-panel and bodywork, new interior, and countless hours of detailing. Under the hood is a 300hp 350 connected to a 700-R4 trans. It looks like Brad has been at the car hobby for years, but did we mention this is his first effort? Brad found this Malibu as a basket case. Lots of eBay searches supplied some of the missing parts, and good ol' restoration skills helped transform this car to show condition. New items include an Edelbrock intake, a Holley Street Avenger carb, Hedman headers, a Magnaflow exhaust, a B&M shifter, 15-inch Cragar SS rims, and BFG rubber.

White Hot
'84 Monte Carlo
Bob & Betty Hake
Red Lion, PA
One of the best-driving cars to come off of the Chevrolet assembly line during the '80s was the '83-88 Monte Carlo SS. But we don't have to tell Bob and Betty Hake that. Their '84 Monte Carlo SS is in remarkable condition after 20-plus years and has since been improved with a 200-R4 overdrive automatic, Camaro wheels, and new white paint. On top of the original H.O. 305 is an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, a reworked Q-jet, ACCEL ignition parts, and a K&N air filter. Since no performance car is complete without that hot sound, the SS now sports Edelbrock Chrome headers and Flowmaster mufflers.

Nova Attitude
'69 Nova SS
Wizard Mateen
Trinity, NC
Wizard Mateen calls his '69 Nova Wizard's Wrath. Among the highlights is a 350 block bored to 360ci. The rotating assembly is a 5140 knife-edged crank, pink rods, and hypereutectic pistons. A Lunati cam works the valves in ported Edelbrock heads, and 600-cfm Holleys atop a Victor Ram intake feed the chambers. An MSD box provides ignition, and Hooker Super Comp headers and Flowmaster mufflers expel the spent fumes. It's all good for 549 hp at 6,500 rpm, put to the ground through a Muncie four-speed and a 4.11:1 Richmond posi rear.
