One Piece At A Time
'66 Chevelle ss396
Recently, Darrin Care's Daytona Yellow '66 Chevelle SS has been catching a lot of attention cruising the roads of our nation's sunshine state. The original bench-seat four-speed with factory A/C example of a basket case was purchased from his buddy. Within a year, though, Darrin had dropped in a 360hp L-34 396 Rat motor and a Muncie four-speed gearbox and had the Chevelle running and looking right. At the rear you'll find a stock 12-bolt posi with a 3.73:1 cog. Those cool, vintage-looking wheels are Cragar SS items.
'00 camaro ss
This flaming-hot '00 Camaro SS belongs to Jack Doud and packs far more fire under the hood than a factory stocker. In place of the original LS1 engine it now hosts a GMPP LS6 crate motor with an SLP intake, Kooks long-tube headers and Y-pipe, SLP Loudmouth exhaust, and more. The mods have paid big dividends, with over 400 horses dyno'd to the rear wheels. Jack even airbrushed the stunning blue true-fire paint job over the navy-blue metallic paint.
Haul In The Family
Good looks and hard work are attributes many families relish, but for the Smiths, these are directed toward automotive aspirations. While Dad Tim does most of the driving, it's with the help of his wife, Tammy, and their two sons, Christopher and Bruce, that the Nova maintains its pristine order. Big power is afforded with a 406ci small-block fitted with eight JE 14.2:1 slugs, aluminum cylinder heads, a polished tunnel ram, Hooker headers, and a 250-horse NOS system. Inside is a color-keyed roll bar for added safety. If you ever want to catch this Nova in action, check out the Kool April Nights cruising and car show event held each year in Redding.
