Blue Thunder
'72 El Camino
Jake Hallberg
Grand Rapids, Mi
Jake Hallberg's '72 El Camino represents what many consider one of the best-looking El Caminos ever produced by Chevrolet, and we tend to agree. The clean lines, hefty side flanks, and close-fitting bumpers have been meticulously restored on Jake's example. The deep hue is an '80 Corvette color called Grand Sport Blue. Under the hood Jake continued the Vette theme and added a warmed-over 350 pulled from a C3. A TH350 automatic that spins the stock 8.2-inch 10-bolt cog handles shifting duties. For the right stance, Jake lowered the Elco and added 15x7 Rally wheels with BFG radial tires.

'70 Chevelle Ss
Justin King
Nampa, ID
This red-hot SS 454 Chevelle came factory equipped with the coveted LS6 450-horse option. Although it currently is powered with a 454 replacement crate engine, Justin King is keeping his eyes open for a vintage big-block correct for the car. At present the A-body features a Flowmaster exhaust system, a Holley HP 800-cfm carb, MSD ignition, and a 4.10 cog. In his e-mail Justin mentioned that soon he and his girlfriend are getting married. While posing for their wedding announcement photo, Justin asked the photographer get a few quick shots of the Chevelle, including the one shown here.

Dreams Come True
'72 Camaro Z28
Gary Freudenberg
Crete, IL
The glistening hue on this second-gen Camaro is Dupont's Standox Lamborghini Pearl Orange, and it makes Gary Freudenberg's '72 Z shine. His F-body, which he recently found on eBay as an incomplete project car, has been finished with a 355 small-block, a Weiand intake, a BG Speed Demon carb, a Reed cam, TRW slugs, and a Flowmaster exhaust. Recent trophies include First in Class awards won at Chicago World of Wheels, the Midwest Corvette and Chevy Show, and the Super Chevy Show. Gary is so excited about his new ride that he told us, "Please don't pinch me; I don't want to wake up."
