Anytime, Anywhere
'71 Camaro RS
Richard Gresey
Burlington, KY
While living in Southern California, Richard purchased his Camaro and drove it daily for five years. Now he's added a bored and honed 9.5:1 small-block. His rotating assembly consists of Eagle rods, Speed-Pro pistons, and an Erson cam. An Edelbrock carb leads air through the Edelbrock manifold and finally through a set of Dart heads. Richards' goal was to complete the car and to drive it daily, anywhere anytime. Richard really practices what he preaches.
Far From Malibu
'66 Chevelle Malibu
Darren Bitzer
Bragg Creek, AB, Canada
Darren dreamed of owning a '66 Chevelle ever since he was 14 years old, and when opportunity finally came knocking, he picked one up and got to work. He kept the original interior but planted the Chevelle on QA1 adjustable coilovers. He then wrapped Intro Pentia rims with a staggered set of Bridgestone Potenzas, P285/R4019s in the rear and P245/R4018s up front. Slowing the 'Velle in a hurry are disc brakes on all four corners. Transferring the power are a custom-built manual valvebody turbo 400 transmission and a 9-inch rearend with 3.50:1 gears. The 700hp big-block crate motor is topped off with a March belt system, and spent fumes are expelled through a 3-inch stainless exhaust system.
Overkill
'69 Pro Street Camaro
Tracy Moore
Federal Way, WA
In just eight short months, this husband and wife team transformed Tracy's '69 Camaro into a real head-turner. In 2004, Brian opted for a complete rebuild, backhalving the '69 and installing a 'cage. For the exterior, all factory holes and seams were filled and then smoothed over. The small-block was bored 0.030 over and plugged with two 650-cfm carbs and a 6-71 blower to generate 600 hp! Out back, the four-link tames the 31x18.50 Hoosier tires with Center Line Convo Pro wheels. It's easy to see why this car was dubbed Overkill.
