Big-Block Brawler

'71 Nova

Chad Buch

Wausau, Wisconsin

After a two-year restoration and an even more recent interior upgrade, Chad Buch's Nova is complete. Underhood is a 502ci big-block with a few additional modifications, including the Demon 850 carburetor, Hooker Headers, Edelbrock intake manifold, COMP cam, and MSD ignition system; Chad estimates that his powerplant is generating around 525 hp. To get the power to the back, he relies on a built TH400 trans with a 4,500-stall converter and a transbrake, along with a 9-inch rearend that's filled with a 3.55:1 gearset, spool, and Strange axles. And to keep him safe at the dragstrip, he's surrounded by a NHRA-legal 12-point 'cage.

'68 Camaro

Loren Harris

Staunton, Virginia

Loren Harris out of Blue Ridge Hot Rods sent us their latest creation, a 500hp LS3-packing '68 Camaro. He went on to mention that it has all-new metal, a 6L80 transmission, including a Heidts chassis with massive 14-inch Wilwood binders. Inside features a plush leather interior with a modern-day navigation system. Sounds like it's the perfect car to take a cross-country trip in!

Built for Fun

'74 Camaro

Jerry Gray

Long Beach, California

Jerry Gray is 78 years young and found his pride and joy in the California desert with no motor inside. The interior was weathered with rust on most of the panels, but that didn't deter him from purchasing it for a paltry $500. Since then, it's been upgraded with a 385ci small-block, an overdrive tranny, fresh suspension, and coated it himself with a Porsche red shine.

Power Punch

'64 Chevelle

Art Limbaugh

Bel Air, California

Talk about a mean-looking street machine. Art Limbaugh sent us an impressive list of updates on his '64 Chevelle. Powering the ride is 572ci big-block that's backed by a TH400 transmission and a narrowed 12-bolt rearend. The spent fumes are expelled by a pair of Lemons' Headers that lead into a set of Borla XR-1 mufflers. To complement the four-link suspension, Art went with QA1 coilovers on all four corners. Other upgrades include a complete Wilwood braking system, 15x4 Weld Wheels up front with 15x15 in back, a complete set of Auto Meter Ultra Lite gauges mounted in a custom dash, and Kirkey aluminum seats.
