We took the hellion to California Speedway for some full-throttle testing. Even with a 3.73:1 Posi-traction rearend, the rear tires wanted to spin hard, making us ease into the throttle off the line. The 4,500-pounder stopped the clocks at 14.01 seconds at 97.5 mph. With traction and more seat time, we're sure we would have seen 13s.

The Joe Gibbs Performance Silverado was equipped with the JGP Premium package that included the Gibbs-designed 20x8.5" hyper-silver wheels wrapped with P275/55R20 Goodyear Eagle LS rubber. This combination really helped the truck handle great through turns and straightaways.

2005 Chevrolet Silverado Gibbs Performance Engine
At the heart of our test truck is a 5.3L V-8 with a Gibbs/Magnuson-designed Eaton Generation V Roots-type supercharge/intercooler system conservatively rated at 395 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque. This dealer-installed package (that includes an intercooler) adds $5,460 to the price of the truck. The supercharger manufactures about 5.5 lbs of boost, yielding awesome power is awesome and civilized street manners. The supercharger cover is made of carbon fiber.

At a local donut shop in Newbury Park, CA, the mere presence of the Victory Red Gibbs truck emptied the inside counter. These guys had lots of questions, but especially loved the Magnuson supercharger and listening to our driving adventures. Black and Summit White are also available.
