Over the last year or so, Cavalier designers have undertaken the challenge to see just how far they can stretch Cavalier’s boundaries. Using a big dose of creativity and the new 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine, they’ve produced the Cavalier 220 Turbo Sport Coupe.

"The objective of the Cavalier 220 Turbo Sport Coupe is to assess the potential of a turbo package for possible production," said Mary Wernette, Cavalier brand manager. "We want to experiment with the 2.2-liter Ecotec engine – and the Cavalier itself – and take advantage of the vast potential both offer."

The Ecotec turbocharged engine produces 220 hp and it is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. A specially designed body kit includes unique front and rear fascias, body side moldings, hood with ram air scoops, rear spoiler and taillamps and offers a unique appearance.

Coated in Nippon Stealth Gray, the 220 Turbo features a three-coat paint process. The base coat uses Nippon Satintech Mirrorized Glass enhanced semi-gloss, the mid coat features crushed mirror and reflective glass mica and silver aluminum flakes. Covering it all is Sherwood Williams clear urethane.

Inside, the instrument panel, console trim, door trim and other accents sport Nippon Platinum Mirrorized paint. In front, designers installed Sparco Milano special edition sport seats in black leather, and custom contour rear seats by Delphi Industrial Design and GM Design Staff Trim Shops match the Sparco Milano theme. A Sparco Lap 5 steering wheel in black leather and Sparco brushed aluminum and leather shift knob lend a modern, sophisticated look.

A four-inch Borla boomer stainless steel tip dresses up the exhaust system. Racing Hart M-5 three-piece 19 x 8-inch wheels and Toyo Proxes FZ-4 tires finish the custom appearance.
