LS Fest 2010
These days, LS engines are all the rage, and if you don't believe me just take a look at the aftermarket. We're talking big-time power-adders to billet aluminum blocks that'll take anything you can throw at them. Should we mention, the wild big-bore, tall-deck animals that can size up to monster big-block equivalents?
The current trend has also inspired Holley Performance Products' LS Fest in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the weekend of September 10, 2010. You can expect this to be a fun-filled weekend of all things LS and family friendly entry fees. That's right, it's going to be absolute automotive bliss in the form of competitive heads-up racing, an autocross course, and a 0-60-0 competition, along with the opportunity to show off your pride and joy. Oh, there's more: a countryside cruise, live music, swap meet, and thousands of dollars' worth of door prizes for participants and spectators. Are you getting the idea? There will be plenty to experience, and everyone is encouraged to participate in the festivities.
Of course we're not going to stand idle during the program. No, not by a longshot. I'm proud to announce our Chevy High Noon Shootouts. The High Noon Shootout will consist of three individual events throughout the weekend, including an Outlaw 8.5 heads-up race on Friday, a True Street Autocross Challenge on Saturday, and a special CHP Best of Show award during Sunday's Show-N-Shine. We're working out the details for the awards, but winners can expect full features in the magazine and goodies from the Holley family of brands. Lately I've been joking about giving away staffer Sean Haggai's jacket at the event-and who knows, we just might do it.
Our Outlaw 8.5 is an invitational eighth-mile heads-up race, which requires you to submit your entry to chevyhi@sorc.com directly. This is a run-what-you-brung race with very liberal rules, meaning dedicated race cars are encouraged to sign up. Be sure to include the complete drivetrain and chassis details along with a high-res image of your ride. We're only accepting eight cars, and it'll be run on a Pro Tree with a Sportsman ladder with the following rules: LS-based, meet all NHRA requirements, and rear slicks must have an 8.5-inch designation on the sidewall-that's it!
Our True Street Autocross Challenge is another invitational competition that requires you to submit your ride prior to the event. The only rules you have to adhere to is that you must use a 200-treadwear-rated tire and have current insurance and registration. You get three runs, and the quickest time through the course gets the gold.
