I just received my December Chevy High Performance and had to comment on the Hot Rodding Into The Future section: It should be required reading (possibly with a test afterward) for anyone with the slightest interest in any facet of high-performance vehicles.People need to realize that once something is gone or a law, no matter how ill advised, is passed, it is 10 times the struggle to get it back than to prevent it in the first place.I don’t think some elected officials realize just how many people are into high performance and they won’t unless we tell them.Of course, it’s that way with a lot of other issues too.We do need to realize that some compromise might be necessary, but we can’t just stick our collective heads in the sand while a few officials push modern safety vehicles on us.
The detail and layout will make this a valuable reference for anyone.I thought I knew a lot about the subject, but I learned a lot on new things as well as confirmed a lot of other things. Info like this is why I am a subscriber. Thanks for agreat job and well done!

We are more than aware of the fact that whatever happens down in the States will greatly affect us uphere in Canada. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy Chevy High Performance! I can tell all of you really enjoy what you do and it shows in the magazine. Unlike a lot of the other mags it seems that a lot of your feature cars are actually driven and that means a lot to us gearheads. I really enjoy the tech articles and the ongoing buildup of your projects, plus the story about local heroes was on the money! The only problem I have is I burn through the mag cover to cover when I get it but it keeps my gearhead blood flowing. My subscription is just about up and I’m planning on re-upping more than one year this time, because you guys just keep making the mag better every year.
Over the years I’ve owned several ’66-67 Novas, Pontiacs, and Oldsmobiles and for two hours I even owned a Mustang. My current project is a ’72 Monte Carlo that belonged to my best friend before he died. My sons and I currently have it scattered all over our basement working on a frame-up restomod. The engine will be a 496 big-block stroker with a Turbo 400 that’s mated to a Gear Vendors overdrive unit, and will have all BMR suspension. My oldest son is 11 and he thinks he gets the car, but I told him to dream on!
I am a member of the First Generation Monte Carlo Club. This is one of the best group of people I have ever associated with as far as clubs go. Members cars range from unrestored Monte SS’s to concourse restored to modified and custom. Very few trailer queens are in the club unless they are strictly show cars.
