Once the linkage is in position and properly set, the adjustable rod ends should be tightened.

To give you a better idea of how this system works, Hooker removed the still-attached pair of carbs and put them through their paces. This shot is at idle. The rear (primary) carb is on the left, and you can see that its primaries are barely open, while the secondary carb is fully closed.

At part-throttle, both the primary and secondary butterfly valves on the primary carb are about halfway open, as are the primary valves on the secondary carb.

When Hooker moves the linkage to fully open, that's exactly what you see: All eight butterflies are wide open for maximum airflow.

Finally, Hooker installed one of Edelbrock's Dual Quad Fuel Line kits to make sure both our mixers get all the fuel they need. Now, if we only had a '62 bubbletop to drop this thing into...
