The only right way to assembly rod bolts is to use a rod bolt stretch gauge. This ensures that the bolt is properly tensioned to prevent over- or undertorquing. We lost an engine to undertorqued rod bolts so now we religiously use the ARP rod-bolt stretch gauge.
