The engine comes with newer-type female plugs for the knock sensors, but the wiring harness had the old-style connectors. S&P supplied the proper sensors...

...Don't overtighten them; it could lead to premature knock detection and retarded timing as per the computer...

...The stock starter installation is tight--depending on the bell housing, you will either have to clearance the outside of it or install Powermaster's new LS-engine compatible starter, which has no nose to interfere with the bell housing...

...We had to install the old-style knock sensor where the new-style knock plug is located. This required drilling and tapping the hole slightly larger. (Note the braided copper ground wire.)

This is the brain of the fly-by-wire system, a simple plug-and-play installation...

...We actually shortened the harness, since the black box was located adjacent to the pedal assembly and the computer. S&P got me squared away with the proper connectors and Weather-Pak connector to make it all fit...

...Throttle response is quick and smooth--much smoother than a cable connection--and the spring in the pedal assembly provides just the right feel. (The pedal assembly bolted in exactly where the old one had been.)

Have faith, the worst is yet to come! The computer nestled nicely under the dash and a hastily bent metal strapping provided a secure mount...

...so secure that it will probably not be changed in my lifetime! The OE system is bulky, but the Vintage Air unit is compact, leaving more space to work with under the dash...

...If you're only cruising in nice weather, you could delete the heater and defroster ducting and hide all sorts of electronics under the dash.

Confession time. This is the wire that attaches to the crank-position sensor located behind the starter. I managed to pinch it hard while attaching the wiring- harness ground wire to the heads. The engine would not start and the scanner indicated a failure to sense the crankshaft position. Bobby slid under the hood and found the damaged wire. A soldering gun and shrink-wrap soon had the wires reattached. The engine fired immediately.
