The several thousand square-foot expansion will provide additional room to house a new CNC multi-stack Electric Tube Bender with better than 1D mandrel bending capabilities. This equipment will provide improved capabilities in terms of tubing geometries and increased capacities with reduced costs, mirroring the goals established by the management team at Stainless Works. The expansion will provide room for a newly ordered CNC 3D Wire Bender, and also permit the SW team to physically join product R&D with the tube-bending department. Moving this equipment will gain Stainless Works growing commercial fabrication department more room to expand, so they can better assist customers that require laser cutting, folding, welding and other fabrication work.

Lastly, Stainless Works is nearing completion on the renovation of a large showroom to house their growing sales and marketing force, which will also serve as a meeting space for discussions with customers who come to visit Stainless Works manufacturing facility, where they continue to fabricate 304 stainless steel headers, exhausts and components in the USA.

For additional information regarding Stainless Works, call 800.878.3635 or visit online at StainlessWorks.net.

Stainless Works |

Bergstrom will continue to serve as director of event operations for the NMRA and NMCA but also will now assume the responsibility of leading as well as overseeing ProMedia’s west coast division as general manager effective immediately stated NMCA WEST president, Charlie Harmon. “Gene’s west coast experience as a racer, track operator, NHRA division director and executive will serve him well in his additional capacity,” Harmon said.

Bergstrom spent 21-years as an employee of the NHRA, in a variety of positions including serving as the northwest regional director for a decade, followed by serving as director of field operations for the NHRA. Bergstrom has also managed several racetracks throughout his long career.

“I have spent the majority of my life around race tracks,” Bergstrom said. “I’m excited that me, and my wife Judy, will have an opportunity to be a part of ProMedia’s west coast initiative. We did not truly realize what kind of demand there was on the west coast for our style of events until our NMRA/NMCA Fontana event last July. Our sponsors, racers and fans demanded more events, and I’m happy we are going able to deliver. There will be challenges as there are with any start-up series but I’m confident that we have assembled a team that will lead us to success,” said Bergstrom.

ProMedia’s event division has also added Huey Dewitt Jr. to its staff. Dewitt will serve in the newly created position of NMRA/NMCA events coordinator. Dewitt comes from a rich drag racing background lasting more than 25 years, where he has either driven or crewed on a number of west coast entries. “ProMedia is now producing 18 events annually, the most in company history,” says Harmon. “It was imperative that we bring someone onboard to support our event division and we are so fortunate to have found a true enthusiast such as Huey to join our event team. His knowledge, enthusiasm and intimacy with street car drag racing increase his value to ProMedia especially here on the west coast.”

“It is a dream to have a full time opportunity to do something I really enjoy,” Dewitt said. “I’m really excited about joining ProMedia and helping broaden its scope both on the east and west coasts. I’m anxious to begin with the new year and help raise awareness across the county to the NMCA and NMRA brand,” Dewitt concluded. Huey will report directly to Trey Capps, director of events for ProMedia and will begin his duties on January 3, 2012.

ProMedia |

Holley has a long standing relationship with NASCAR helping assure high quality fuel delivery products have been supplied to their teams for over 40 years. Holley Carburetors have powered every professional NASCAR team since the 1960s.

“Holley is proud to have powered the amazing machines found in NASCAR for over four decades. We’ve successfully delivered the fuel for 28 million miles in NASCAR cup series racing alone, not including NASCAR Nationwide, Camping World Truck, and other NASCAR series we work with. We have spent nearly two years engineering our new throttle body for NASCAR and are confident we will continue to get the job done as they make the change to fuel injection,” said Holley CEO, Tom Tomlinson.

Holley will manufacture the new throttle bodies in their ISO 9001:2008 certified Bowling Green, KY facility – the same facility where the majority of their NASCAR Carburetors have been manufactured. The throttle body is a critical component in the electronic fuel Injection system and will be the key to regulating the airflow to the NASCAR racing engines. The Holley throttle bodies were designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to assure the airflow met NASCAR specs.

The new Holley throttle bodies are constructed of aerospace quality billet aluminum and will be machined on five-axis CNC machines to hold the demanding tolerances required in NASCAR racing. They feature 17-4 stainless steel throttle shafts, throttle levers and linkage to handle the extreme conditions found in NASCAR racing. The throttle shafts and throttle plates are profiled for maximum airflow. The throttle shafts will ride on sealed needle bearings for smooth operation and durability. The venturii have been contoured for efficient yet maximum airflow. A positive throttle stop has been built in as an added safety feature. Each throttle body will be anodized for corrosion protection and then individually serialized for NASCAR.

“The fuel Injection side of our business is a critical path to our future. We have a lot of excitement around our new fuel Injection program and the NASCAR throttle body will help us continue on that path. NASCAR teams demand the best and we intend to keep delivering just that,” said Tomlinson.

Holley |

The fierce competition yielded tight results with a tie for first place overall between Danny Popp and Mark Stielow, the 2010 OPTIMA Invitational winner. The official tiebreaker ruling designates that the winner is determined by the fastest lap of the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge. As Popp had the advantage, he and his respected 2006 Z06came out on top, winning the coveted title of OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car of 2011.

Danny Popp, who currently resides in Ohio, is a skilled driver with an impressive list of amateur credentials. Popp is a Corvette technician/race specialist by trade at McCluskey Chevrolet in Cincinnati. Popp’s heavily modified Corvette along with extensive seat time in SCCA, NASA and One Lap of America events provided that extra edge to beat some very tough competition.

“It was a thrill to compete in the 2011 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational. I have watchedthis event for the past two years, and to be able to win this event as a rookie has me elated,” said Popp. “The field this year was incredible and the competition was fierce. The growth of this event is exciting and I look forward to attempting to defend the title again next year, if we are fortunate enough to be invited.”

One of the true OPTIMA Invitational heroes was Popp’s fellow Corvette competitor Peter Callaway, who helped save the day for Popp by giving him the master cylinder off of his 2008 Callaway Corvette SC652 so Popp could compete in his final event, the Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge. Without this act of sportsmanship and camaraderie, Popp would have been eliminated.

OPTIMA Batteries announced Popp and each of the segment winners at an awards ceremony immediately following the close of events on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club. All participants are acknowledged for being selected to compete in the exclusive event and the following is a list of top-finishing results:

Overall OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car

1st – Danny Popp, 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

2nd – Mark Stielow, 1969 Camaro

Raybestos Performance Design Competition

1st – Phil Gerber, 1967 Chevy Nova

2nd – Curt Ukasic, 1962 Nova Runt

BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge

1st – Danny Popp, 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (Fastest time 01:42.208)

2nd – Pete Callaway, 2008 Callaway Corvette SC652 (Fastest time 01:44.749)

Ridetech Street Challenge Autocross Competition

1st – Danny Popp, 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (Fastest time 00:38.251)

2nd – Mary Pozzi, 1973 Chevrolet Camaro RS (Fastest time 00:39.414)

Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge

1st – Gary Rubio, 2009 Nissan GTR (Fastest time 00:06.541)

2nd – Mark Stielow, 1969 Camaro (Fastest time 00:07.096)

“This year’s event once again exceeded our expectations in terms of excitement, level of performance and design and the involvement of the entire performance industry,” said Cam Douglass, director of marketing and product development for OPTIMA Batteries. “From muscle cars to hot rods to imports and street trucks, we had builders and owners of the hottest cars in the world out on the track showing that thesevehicles really can do what they are built for.”

New this year, fans were able to view the action from the front row. More than 500 spectators came out to enjoy the high-performance racing action. The entire event, from the pre-SEMA builds to the awards ceremony, was shot for a national TV show, which will air in early 2012 on a national cable network. Sponsors of the 2011 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational include the presenting sponsors, K&N Filters and Wilwood Disc Brakes, and race event sponsors, including BFGoodrich, Ridetech, Wilwood Disc Brakes, Raybestos, and Detroit Speed and Engineering. Additionally, The Roadster Shop, MagnaFlow, RECARO, Harman Kardon and Pioneer are associate sponsors for the OPTIMA Invitational. It can be installed by anyone with access to basic tools and a car with a 4-barrel carb. No laptop is required and the owner doesn't need to understand how to tune a fuel map because MSD already handled the homework for you. In fact, MSD does a lot of the wiring for the user too!

Instead of having countless sensors that have to be installed on the engine, MSD incorporate the TPS, MAP, IAT, and more right in the throttle body so the user never has to worry about them. The best part of the Atomic EFI system is the returnless fuel feature. MSD uses pulse width modulation technology to control the fuel pump so that you only need one line. This means most users can keep their existing fuel tank pickup and never have to modify the gas tank. A small external Power Controller is required for the fuel pump and fans, but MSD implemented CAN-Bus technology to keep wiring minimized.

The Atomic EFI is scheduled to be on store shelves in January 2012. To find more information on Atomic EFI's great performance specs, or to see just how easy installation truly is, go to www.AtomicEFI.com

MSD |
