Next, we fed the shifter cable... Next, we fed the shifter cable and threaded it into the assembly and used an 11/16-inch wrench to tighten it down. We attached the block to the... We attached the block to the cable by threading it on and then connected it to the shifter with its retaining clip. Before the shifter can be... Before the shifter can be bolted down to the floorboard, we fed the cable through our hole that was drilled. Next, using the supplied hardware, we bolted the shifter to the floor using a 1/2-inch socket. Once the cable is fed through... Once the cable is fed through the floorboard it must be slid between the top of the transmission and the bottom of the floorboard. From there, it'll travel toward the passenger side and then loop around under the transmission near the tailhousing. With that out of the way, we could remove two bolts from the transmission pan where our GM cable bracket will be fastened too. Using a 7/16-inch wrench,... Using a 7/16-inch wrench, we made sure the cable was snug in the bracket, and we also tightened the pan bolts using a 9/16-inch socket and ratchet. The last bit of linkage to... The last bit of linkage to be installed is the GM lever. We removed the factory piece and installed the new one with the original selector nut. We then torque the nut down to 23 ft-lb and made sure the lever was able to move forward and backward smoothly with a positive click in each direction. We made our own wiring harness... We made our own wiring harness to control our backup lights (A) and neutral safety switch (B). The blue wire is for the dimmer and runs from under the dash to the red wire for the bulb in the gear selector. The green wires are for the neutral switch and go from the shifter to the purple wires under the dash. The white wire is for the reverse lights and also runs from the shifter to the pink wires under the dash. Next, we hooked up our gear... Next, we hooked up our gear indicator. It's a simple cable that we hookup to the ratcheting mechanism of the shifter. It will tell us what gear we are in. All we had to do was attach the eyelet and then the supplied E-clip. With the innards of the shifter... With the innards of the shifter done and the wiring/cables hooked up and ready to go, we could install the shifter mount base, the cover plate, and the boot. We trimmed to make sure it had a nice fit around the transmission tunnel. Before attempting to click... Before attempting to click through the gears, we did a trial run in the driveway. With everything in the green, we took it on the road and like the fact that we can bark Second and Third on command.
