Hello,I'm building a 427 ci sbc for my '73 Vega. So far it has a 4.125 bore Dart SHP block, Scat 4.00 in. forged crank, Scat 6.00 in. H-beam rods, 13.5-1 JE pistons, and AFR 227 alum. heads. I haven't picked a cam yet. My goals are at least 600 hp, and 9 second et's. The car is back-halfed with ladder bars, 10 point cage, 9 in. rear with 456 gears, powerglide with trans. brake and 4500 stall converter. I know a single carb would be simpler and cheaper, but I'm going old school with a tunnel ram. I'm just not sure which one , or the carb size. I plan on shifting around 7000 rpm. Thanks for any help. Love the mag.

.. The base Weiand tunnel ram is more a flexible street piece, not sure if they offer a bigger one. The Offenhausers tend to be old designs. An Edelbrock tunnel ram is probably the one you want for your goals. With a pair of 600 CFM Holley or Edelbrock/Carter carbs. Since you're running an automatic, vacuum secondary carb. may be sufficient. If money is no object, other brands and even custom sheet metal tunnel rams are available. And even bigger heads dropping from stock 23 degree to 21, 18, or 15 degree valve angles. The dual quad tunnel ram still provides more ultimate HP and torque than a single 4 bbl. on the strip, so not so 'old school'.
