If you look, you will see that the Cam Follower Velocity (yellow line) has a no-bump ramp. This allows for quicker acceleration into the profile off the base circle. If you look at the close, you will see the bump at the end of the ramp that allows for a gentle valve closing. This produces longevity in the valve train.
