The inner spring is compressed, and the assembly is placed into the spring slot. Make sure the inner spring is seated in its notches, then, still keeping the drivers wedged together, rotate the assembly to the other spring slot and repeated. This photo shows a properly installed damper spring, as well as the use of the provided check block (arrow). If the narrow side of the block fits between the drivers, as shown, you're in clover.
