For this particular application, a larger big-block Chevy snout is incorporated onto a special small-block Chevy crankshaft to withstand the high turning pressures. Steel cranks are usually recommended for high rpm. (High-quality cast cranks generally work with boost levels below 7 psi.) The crankshafts are usually fitted with additional keys to restrict bottom pulley movement.
