Color Sanding Process Hood Imperfections

Hitting the hood with 1,000-grit sandpaper reveals several imperfections. The white ripples are high spots in the orange peel, and the goal is to skim over the surface to flatten these high spots and remove dust nibs and fish eyes. The cut itself is less than one mil deep. Paint should always be color-sanded in the shade, and never in bright sunlight. View Related Article
