Good valvesprings provide adequate seat pressure to allow a tight fit between the valve face and the valve seat to seal the combustion chamber. The proper valvesprings also prevent the valve from bouncing on its return to the seat (especially at high engine speeds), thus losing cylinder pressure. View Related Article
