Performance Head Gaskets

While unnecessary in many street applications, for many racing or extreme street applications you should check with your head-gasket manufacturer to learn if retorquing is necessary to maintain maximum clamp-load. When this is required the engine should first run one or two complete engine warm-ups and cooldowns. Then, with the engine dead cold, retorque the bolts (or nuts) to spec by breaking loose each bolt about 11/44-turn and then retightening to spec.
