Mechanical Speedometer Conversion KitTransplanting late-model drivetrains into vintage Chevys is all the rage these days, and R&D Engineering makes the job easier with its mechanical speedometer conversion kits. Each setup is based on a modified transmission tailhousing with provisions for both a mechanical speedometer and a VSS (vehicle speed sensor), required to interface with late-model ECMs. Kits are available for '93-97 4L60E transmissions, '98-current 4L60Es (pictured with required six-to-four-bolt adapter), 4L80Es, and also for T56 gearboxes. All housings are glass bead-blasted, and new seals and O-rings are included. Each kit also comes with a speedometer drive and driven gear combination based on the customer's rear axle ratio and tire diameter.
