Power Porting
|
We started with the electric die grinder on a slow setting (with a variable speed controller); if it spins too fast, the grinder can potentially bite into the manifold and bounce off the walls of the runner. We massaged the outer edge of the rectangular port. The goal is to progressively remove material and avoid hacking into the manifold. This is a delicate process, so we let the bit do the cutting and just guided the grinder along. To clean up the airflow in the manifold, a port and polish job needs to only go about an inch deep into the runner to achieve additional flow. In our case, we opted to spend a little more time and go as deep as the grinder would allow us to reach. View Related Article
