Hydraulic-roller tappets are 0.630 inch taller than hydraulic flat tappets. The factory compensated by increasing the height of the roller-tappet boss in the block. This increased height also means hydraulic-roller tappets are also much heavier and therefore harder to control at high rpm. View Related Article
