Dropped springs come in varying lengths and can be used as a substitute for a dropped spindle. Sometimes a shorter coil spring will offer a variable spring rate that could make your car handle better. Most spring manufacturers do not recommend more than a 2- to 3-inch reduction in spring height without using dropped spindles as well, because steering geometry will be adversely affected.
