A useful “in-the-field” TV cable adjustment trick we learned from Gene Christensen at Auto-Rite Transmissions is to make sure the cable is “piano-string” tight with the carburetor at wide open throttle (WOT). This creates maximum transmission-line pressure at WOT. This may, however, create harsh part-throttle upshifts. If so, loosening the cable will create a slight decrease in line pressure, which can soften the harshness. View Related Article
