Imagine youre racing down the backstretch at 100 mph in a Z06 Corvette with a hard right turn coming up. How should you negotiate the turn? Thats one of the many driving techniques we recently learned at the Bragg-Smith Advanced Driving School located on a 2.2-mile racetrack just outside Las Vegas. For two days we apexed our way through an extensive course that taught us to overcome the challenges of skid control, braking, and heel-and-toe shifting. Most importantly, we learned the art of visual scanning.
To teach these methods, the Bragg-Smith program incorporates as much time behind the wheel as possible. Indoor lessons are short and informative, giving students the tools to get the most out of their driving experience. The fleet of cars include approximately 20 new Chevrolets ranging from SS Camaros to Z06 Corvettes, all equipped with six-speed transmissions. Each car is also equipped with a two-way radio to keep students and instructors in constant communication.
