Drilling for Water Fel-Pro added this 7/16-inch center-cooling hole since it is present in all production iron heads but may not be present in all cylinder blocks. If there is no hole in your block, you can easily drill the soft cast iron to create the water passage. This is not as difficult as it sounds, and the head gasket can be used as a template to correctly locate the position of the hole. Wed suggest drilling a small, 1/4-inch pilot hole first, followed by a 7/16-inch drill bit. Remember to remove the gasket before drilling. View Related Article
